A good mate and I started talking about OpenClaw. We soon agreed that, despite its rough edges, it was revolutionary and had ushered in an agentic era.
What if we built a similar harness but tailored for work?
The (rough) idea of Runlane was born. Unfortunately, the big companies had the same idea. In the next few months, we saw many "claws" popping up.
So, back to the drawing board.
April 2026. Sydney. A local pub.
Same friend. Same chat. "Mate, my lobsters burnt so much token for so little output!"
"It was never built for business workflows. We need a harness optimized for routines."
"How?" "Hmm. How about we combine OpenClaw, n8n, and Jira? In other words autonomous agents for business workflows with project management."
"Brilliant! When can I use it?!" he asked. I replied, "Hold my beer."
